How to get a job in IT as a fresher – tips to get a job in the IT industry
1. Resume:
You need a good resume. Now when you say you have your resume or CV, you have your entire job and skills related data. You write everything about you and that is very important. Now one of the ways people get the resume is they go to Google and they search for a good resume or the search for a good CV. So what they do is they change the data. For example, if I copy something from the internet, I will change the name, change my address, change my hobbies. So if you say you like football, I like cricket. We change those things.
But what your file says? That’s not the only thing which a company you are applying for. Now think about this, when you apply for a job, you are not the only one whose applying for a job. We have thousands of people applying for the same post. And you are applying for that job, of course, you will submit your resume. So there is not only one resume, right? There are lots of other resumes. So as an HR or as a requiter what I will look. I will look at those resumes and I will try to filter out some good resumes from the set of resumes.
So your resume is the first step to getting a job in every industry not only in the IT industry. So it should be good. Now when you say it should be good, how will you make it good? So the best way to do that is to have a personalized resume. It should be different from others. So in every industry resume is very important to get a job.
2. Prepare for a technical interview:
The most important thing is the technical round. Of course, every company has a different set of rounds ut one thinks is common. You are applying as a software engineer more as a programmer, they will ask you one thing the technical questions. This is not mobile-related technology, they will not ask you how GPS works? They will ask you related questions.
If you are applying for java developer then they will ask you about java. And so on. But one thing is common and that is data structure and algorithm. If you are applying for it job, or as a software engineer or as a programmer they will ask you about data structure and algorithms.
3. Certification (valid):
Certificates are important but only valid certificates. Here I used the word valid. This means only those certificates which are valid. Now if you have a certificate from google or Microsoft for some technical course, then this certificate will help you to get a job in the IT industry. But instead of this if you have a certificate from some local institutes or a class center then the chances of getting a job are less compared to that person who are applying for the same post and all other skills are the same exact certification.
But some companies are not looking for a certificate. They believe in the skills that you have.
4. Be a master of one:
You have learned many subjects from your college degree, like data structure, algorithms, java, Html, CSS, and much more. So you have to be a master in one. If you are applying for Java developer then you should have complete knowledge about java. Same thing if you are applying for a full stack developer then you should have good knowledge about it, you should be master in it.
Company looking for those candidates who actually work. Of course, they provide you with training. This is not the issue. But you should have a detailed understanding of one particular field that the company looking for.
5. Good behavior (communication skills):
You should have good communication skills. You should have good knowledge about how to behave, your behavior must be good. The person that will take your interview will notice your communication skills, your behavior, how you speak, how you behave with other people, and all other related to humans.
This is not technical related, it is related to your behavior.
6. Projects:
Of course, when say you have done your graduation in software engineering or in some computer-related field, you need to have projects with you. Now, do not say you should have a java project, python project. If you say I love web designing then you should have something to show people that I have this project and I have completed it during my graduation.
Having good Projects will improve your chance to get a job. So make sure you have at least one project.
Now the last one is,
7. Internship:
Getting good marks in college makes sense but now an internship makes more sense than your marks. Getting good marks, completing projects is good but in that case, you have your Owen deadline, your own time, but during your internship, you are working for someone else. You don’t have your deadline, you have to complete your work as per the given deadline.
So what you have done during your internship, you will do it in a company. The reason is during your internship you learn how to work in a group, how to understand someone else requirement, and everything.
