Dumshcharades, scavenger hunt, Pictionary, and Chinese whispers. These are probably the few games that you playtime and again when you’re made to do something on Friday, forcing those around to get up and join in for something they are just not interested in being a part of.
Well, today, I am going to show you some ways to make Fridays a day everyone will look forward to, never mind the work that has to be finished and all.
They say that fun is a part of your work. But I would beg to differ. Work is a part of the fun, and this is possible only when the office is like family and well-planned Friday fun activities are one way to achieve this.
The key is to make Friday Fun truly fun and not something your employees are forced into when all they want is to get back to their desks and wrap up the week’s work.
Wouldn’t you want something like this? Then read on:
Get the Team To Dress Up
Entering an office in formals from Monday through Thursday can be tiring, isn’t it? Let’s take a break on Friday.
Plan something interesting for the day. It could be anything from a color to an entire theme, like retro, Luau, or even a Pajama or a makeshift theme that gets everyone to get creative for a day.
Just make sure that it’s not something too hard to come up with, just so that everyone can play a part and enjoy it.
And what do we do for the Friday Fun part? I’m sure you know that better. Get your camera out and take selfies together. It’s time for a new Facebook cover, don’t you think?
Arrange A Table With Potluck Goodies
Okay, now this is something that would have already been on your list but just in case you weren’t aware.
If you have a lot of foodies on the team, (and even if you don’t) a potluck would make Friday very interesting, as you discover some pretty good chefs on the team and munch away together, tasting everything.
And if you don’t like to cook, trust me, a potluck at the office can really inspire you into trying your hand at something.
Organize A Talent Show
Well, now this is one of the best ways to bring out those hidden talents on the team, a way of knowing what that silent person sitting at the corner likes doing and how effective the team loafer is when he is doing his favorite thing.
Sounds interesting? However, this is going to need some organizing. Make sure that you plan ahead, making a note of what everyone is doing and getting the shy and lazy ones to get up and do something.
Put Someone On the Hot Seat
Now, here is another way to get to know the people on your team, and perhaps you should try with the quiet ones first.
Put a person on the hot seat and get the team to ask him/her questions about himself and all the latest happenings in his life.
What better way to know someone who works with you better? Believe me, you will be surprised to know what you discover from each one on the team and find ways to support each other too.
Get To Know Someone’s Family
Now, here is an opportunity to get to know a little more about someone on your team. Plan a day in the month when you can have someone’s parent, sibling, cousin or a relative come over and entertain the team in whatever way he finds suitable, by a talk, an event, or anything that he can come up with.
You never know what great celebrities you can come face to face with. And it need not be someone famous. You can even bring along your baby. You’ll be surprised by how much excitement he can give to your team.
This will only give you more things to share as you get to know each other’s families better.
Watch a Movie Together
Well, this may sound boring but trust me, there is a lot of fun that can come out of it as you catch up on the latest movies together. Unlike a theater where you need to sit quietly all three hours, here you get to really have fun and pass some comments between the popcorn and snacks.
And then you get something to talk about through the week as you discuss scenes of the movie together. So, the next time a movie releases, don’t book tickets to a theater. Turn a meeting room into one and have some fun together.
Hang Out
Not everything needs to be done at the office. Plan sometime outside and mind you, I am not recommending the nearest pub or bar.
Plan an outing where you can really enjoy some time to get to know each other. Go to the beach together or on a Friday night trek or visit one of the churches in your town.
Find out some of the interesting places in your city that you can make visit together. There’s nothing like exploring a place together.
Or you could visit each other’s houses too? There’s nothing like planning sleepovers to get to know each other better, as you chat in your pajamas, munch on pizzas, and just have fun.
What Are We Doing This Friday?
Gone are the days when they said you can’t trust your colleague. Today, a good life is one where you work in an office that feels like home and colleagues that are family.
And this is what the Friday Fun activity is meant to be.
So, now that you have a list of some exciting things in mind, go ahead and add to them with whatever ideas you can think of.
The idea is to make Friday Fun a time of laughter and excitement, banter and bonding, sending everyone home happy and bonding everyone into one united and fun-filled team.
That said? How many more days until Friday? Do you look forward to doing something interesting this week? Which of the above activities are you going to do?
